I was in the valdosta area at the local community college graduation and noticed that the police officers had kenwood lap mikes as I didnt get a good look at the radio, I was wondering if kenwood radios can be used on a motorola trunked system. I thought kenwood radios were only LTR trunking.

Valdosta State University (VSU) uses a LTR system. The VSU police do NOT use this system though they have their own frequency that is not part of the VSU LTR system.
All of the county public safety uses Motorola XTS 5000s for the trunking system.
It is rumered that there are some encrypted talkgroups in the county system. I have not heard any.
