• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It worked for a while, then the Texas heat took it down. Hopefully, they make a metal version. Some stores show metal stands, but they are a bit different. I liked this design. It allowed for the radio to sit on top of the bracket. Time to look for a better version. I am not surprised. I once had an RK 56 hanging on a mike holder, melted the entire sheath off of the microphone cable. So, I bought one with metal cable, Astatic. The only suctions cups that can stand the heat are Passport/Escort suction cups for radar detectors & MAXX mounts. "If ya can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

Is it me or are things getting hotter? Did car interior catch fire because of an errant water bottle in the sun? Liquor stores burning because a case of vodka faced the window?

Hey, here’s a guy didn’t properly finish his RF Bond job. Voltage Potential mismatch, a summers day, a hard key-up and . . fried that puppy.

I live in Texas. 160F in my trucks interior is reached in minutes after shutdown. Recommend windowshield-shade use and draping a shirt over the radio.

Another mobile mount can be recommended, but expect that UV and ambient heat are a constant.

More visual/descriptive info needed.

The Vice Grip Garage guy could revive that truck and drive it 800 miles home.

Burning down hospitals for years with the econoline ambulance package. Quick connect trany lines blowing of and spraying the cat, rear heater hoses bursting and spraying the cat. Then they aimed for houses. What genius engineer decided that the cruise control switch in the master cylinder did not need a fuse?

Just a bit of weight reduction in the front.....
There is a whole subculture of Ford Truck owners, the old school Lightning Supercharged ICE V8 engines (How dare you! - Greta) who remove every once of protective metal, plastic, comfort, convenience and safety so they can get a low number on a slip of paper at the dragstrip. They would look at that hulk as potential bragging rights. Personally I don't get it.
