Time for a new UK moderator? Not sure the bulletin board section needs a moderator but if it does then someone from the UK who is actually ACTIVE on RR?

Plenty of other online communities for UK scanner enthusiasts but a shame there isn't more UK-centric activity on RR

I think the answer may lie in the database. The UK portion looks a bit thin. There MUST be more info floating around. If someone could capture that into the DB, more UK folk would have a reason to come here. Are the UK scannists well served somewhere else?

Yes they are. Years ago there was an organisation called PROMA (Professional Radio Operators Monitoring Association - totally OTT name!) - a few like-minded individuals one of whom maintained a database of our findings. With the advent of the internet it grew quickly (and got very diluted with leeches...but that's another story). Now it's not the same beast but exists as a series of yahoo groups the main one of which is scanpromauk with almost 4000 subscribers (percentage who post is typical of such groups).
The database still exists and is updated constantly. It's issued every two weeks but also available online with a section for people to add info on the fly.
The discussion reflects the difference between Americans and the Brits.

So..why would I like to see more people use the section on here?
Variety...wider input on discussions about mobile set-ups etc rarely get covered by UK groups (yet?).
Database format....as more and more Europeans are buying Uniden scanners (partly in part to their now doing more European models and part due to the ease of importing much cheaper US models now) the database on RR will become more useful to them.
Concentrating the discussion of trunked system monitoring in one area might save a lot of the noob questions from being repeated quite so often.
On a more personal level I don't like things like yahoo, google, msn!

The downside of more UK/European people on here would be the leeches mentioned above and that you'd have endless meaningless waffle about the ability to monitor the police on the UK Airwave TETRA system.
