• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I purchased some aftermarket batteries for our Motorola CP200 handhelds. After charging them fully, I changed the old batteries and put the new ones on. The radios turn on and receive fine. However, when you push the transmit button to talk, it keeps transmitting even though I've taken my finger off the transmit button.

The battery brand name is Arrow Max 7.5V 1800mAH

Does anybody have any idea what is causing this?

If I put the old batteries back on, they work fine.

Make sure that you have the correct antenna on your CP200, as TX RF can get into the radio maybe thru the battery.

Also try it into a good known test, dummy load.

cheap batteries loading down and the low voltage is driving the radio stupid. i've seen it more than once, and soemtimes it will brick the radio. i'm not saying to buy the high dollar /\/\ batteries, but at least get aftermarkets from a known and reputable company such as Interstate or even Multiplier(though these are not all that great for SOME radios).

Arrowmax... You didn't get those on fleabay did you? :) Ideally you want to stick with /\/\oto originals; if you must go aftermarket, I've had good luck with PowerProducts and W&W (though according to some people that stands for Weak and Wobbly)...

Think this boils down to you purchase of an $18 battery. The CP200 battery is notoriously finicky, even OEM Motorola ones rarely last more then two years. Not sure what the deal or what causes it.

Had similar issues with other non-OEM batteries for the CP200.Empire Scientific,PowerGain and Honeywell all had memory or voltage issues. Changed to Power Products and things have been fine since.
And the Motorola MAG ONE econo batteries with clear housing also had issues.
