• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all

I have successfully installed CPS 16 Build 823 on my laptop (Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit and it up-to-date). When I tried run it, it always showed me error 1646. I have tried uninstall the software then reinstall it and run as administrator, but it still showed me the same thing over and over again. Any one has solved this problem? Every help will be greatly appreciated!

Best regard

What CPS? MotoTrbo?

This is often caused by a lack of permissions to create the below folders. The fix in this case, is to install and run the CPS as an Administrator.

There could also be an issue with Windows (specifically the WMI Service). Make sure Windows is updated (all patches are applied and no restart is needed). Makre sure you have your codeplugs (if any) saved somewhere else, uninstall the CPS then reboot. Once rebooted go through and delete the following:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\MOTOTRBO CPS

C:\ProgramData\Motorola\MOTOTRBO CPS
C:\Users\cwh050\AppData\Roaming\Motorola\mototrbocps.tbl

Use a registry cleaner to delete any unused entries then reinstall the (latest) CPS. If this doesnt do the trick, see my support page to get help.

Not sure it makes a difference but my version shows 16 Build 828.
I've not had any problems running it on Win10 64 bit but I've since moved all radio software back to a Win7 machine that I plan on keeping just for radio programming.
I would have run the installer or setup file as an Administrator like I always do. I seem to find many programs that don't work correctly otherwise and redoing the install as an administrator usually fixes them. Win10 seems to be very picky about permissions.
