• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Help?

I guess this is what you are asking about below - this is the only lock reference in the help file.

Radio Lock Password

(Radio Configuration)

DEFINITION:
Selects the four-digit password that the radio requires prior to allowing normal radio operations. The radio-user is prompted to enter this password during radio power-up.
Note: The Menu Items Radio Lock feature allows the radio-user to toggle Radio Lock functionality on and off, and to change this password.

Accessed only:
When Radio Lock field is set to enable, and

when the radio is a portable display model, and
when the radio has a numeric keypad.

Selections:
0000 thru 9999

It is CPS Lock - asks for password when trying to read codeplug
I tried using another codeplug with same model no and saving a password and trying to find on winhex then comparing with the other offset and I dont think I'm doing it right

what exactly are you wanting to know?

you have a CPS password that you have to know to be able to read a radio or open a protected archive. you can write a different codeplug to a protected radio, but of course this overwrites the original programming completely.

then you have radio lock which prevents the radio from being used. this is useful in case the unit is lost, but for most folks is impractical.

i think you can setup a CPS password when installing the software so that without the PW someone cannot even open the software, i know several CPS allow for this but unsure about the Pro. mine is setup without a PW.

also, i have 6.11.10

I have an H1250 AAH25SDH9DU5AN with CPS password - No reading or writing unless you put in a password. I just want to get rid of this password so I can program my darn radio. I purchased it on ebay and the previous shop put a password on the codeplug
I have been pouring over google searches and I found out that you can see the password by using a hex editor program and viewing the RAM in the memory session where I read that the password would be. I have taken a similar codeplug H25SDH9DU5 and put a password on in and tried viewing it in Hex editor. I found where it was - wrote down the offsets and then put my locked radio back up on CPS and opened the hex editor and am searching around trying to find the original password for this locked radio.
This is my first time with hex editor- I read that Find Hex Values... 5B85C0742B and change to 5B85C0EB2B will get rid of the password for my CPS and will allow me to go in an remove the password from this codeplug but I do not know how to change those values. I found them in hex editor but don't know how to change

I'd like to leave this here for future reference if anyone else has this problem and comes along

What you do is get a hex editor program . I used HxD -its free
Then you open file, browse thru program files to where your motorola software is and open Proradio.exe, the green icon
Search for this hex value 5B85C0742B , change 74 to EB
And Save
Open CPS like you normally would, the password box will come up, PRESS Enter and BOOM your in!
Then browse over to the password box and uncheck it, then save and write back to radio and that is it
Password is gone!
This is for CPS Password on Professional Radio CPS

Worked like a charm thanks for help.

Does anyone now if there is a way, using this Hex Editor program, to extend the freq range of a particular code plug or perhaps convert a LS model into a conventional model .....?

Depends. You can extend range depending on the model. Which one were you thinking about?
Also depending on the model, some you cannot and with others, converting a LS to conventional is a job for the depot and don't expect it to be cheap
