Hi everyone,

I recently serviced a small radio device, and its original battery was CR1632, but I had a hard time finding this model in my local store.

My question:
Can CR1632 be replaced by other common button batteries (such as CR1620 or CR2032)?

Does the thickness or capacity difference of the battery affect the performance of the radio device?

In radio devices, what functions are CR1632 mainly used for? Clock, memory backup or other purposes?

If anyone has relevant experience or better alternatives, please share! Thank you! 😊

I Googled "CR1632 battery" and got several hits for local retailers and Amazon.

The voltage rating for whatever replacement battery you use should be similar to the rating for a CR1632.

Size is more of a concern. Any replacement battery would need to be the same size as a CR1632 otherwise the replacement battery may not fit properly in the battery holder.

Batteries like this were commonly used for memory backup.

What radio is this?

Since the model number of these button batteries essentially specifies the diameter and thickness of the cell, I would expect that only a 1632 cell would work in your case. These cells can typically be found at local retailers as well as Amazon.

Here is a reference page for various types of button batteries...
