How do they work? I usually listen to TGs for police and fire dispatch in Maricopa County (AZ), and note that many of them (namely PPD Central City, other precincts, MCSO NE, Tempe, etc.) are usually last seen two days before. On my phone they also don't play when I lock my phone.

In addition, I could have sworn that I once saw Avondale Police Dispatch listed, but it got removed and was last seen few hours ago and literally removed the next day. Why aren't all TGs online at all times, and when will the list expand?

It sounds like whoever is feeding that calls system does not have a stable feed or can't support enough receivers to grab the whole system at once. If there are, for example, 20 transmissions going on at once on a system but the person feeding the calls can only receive 5 of them at once, they will be missing a lot of the transmissions and they won't show up for you to play back.

If the person is using sdrtrunk like I am, the program is Horrible on older laptops. The program crashes and stop receiving every few hours so I have to keep restarting it

Does that help explain why not all TGs are active every day, and why only parts of the system are listed for listening? I was hoping the project would be expanded on by now to the live streams.

The person hosting the node can provide as many or as few talkgroups as they want. There is nothing that stipulates that they must broadcast every talkgroup for a particular node, and all of the compatible software allows the broadcaster to choose which talkgroups are broadcast.

Also keep in mind that multi-site trunked systems only carry talkgroups where they are needed, i.e. at a site where a subscriber is affiliated to a particular talkgroup. In the case of Avondale, it looks like they would operate primarily on Simulcast G. There is no node for that simulcast cell on Calls, and so you'll only get activity on that talkgroup if they happen to come up on one of the other four simulcast cells that have a node, such as Simulcast J.

Looks like this was already explained to you in the other thread you started about this.
