As Chief of the Colorado State Patrol, I am extremely pleased to welcome the employees of the Colorado Port of Entry back to the Patrol! Since our concurrent creation in 1935 with the signing of the Patrol Act, we have a shared a unique traffic law and commercial vehicle enforcement history within Colorado. Today, we join together once again to more effectively and efficiently enforce and enhance commercial motor traffic safety and education within Colorado.

After a 57 year separation, the Colorado State Patrol and Colorado Port of Entry are whole again!

Sincerely,
Colonel, James M. Wolfinbarger

That will be nice. I was surprised to learn that the "weigh station" south of Platteville on Highway 85 was actually a port of entry! It will be good to see them working together. Maybe it will be easier to catch port runners. lt seems like CSP and the ports have pretty similar truck inspection routines it would be nice to see the city agencies (like Greeley) get on the same page when it comes to motor carrier safety inspections. They all seem to operate a little different. On a side note, I wonder how the parks and Division of Wildlife merger went? They are probably cost saving measures more than the agencies actually working together. I know Longmont has had the Police/Fire Chief a combined position for quite a while and that seems to be working well and saving the City a lot of money! I hope that this is in fact a way for them to work together and figure out the new MCS laws and how they are enforced in the state.
