Does anyone know the CSX or Amtrak police frequencies used in Rochester, NY. I have a copy of an Police Call from 2002 that list Conrail Police information and Amtrak, no activity on these frequencies. I know Conrail became CSX in 1999. Thanks

That's a hodgepodge of CSX, Rochester & Southern, and some other railroad voice channels and non-voice telemetry links. How about specifically answering his question about exactly what frequencies are used by the railroad police in his area?

BTW, d_strong, I never discovered those frequencies during the 40+ years that I lived in Rochester. Good luck.

NS Police Dispatch from Roanoak, VA: 161.205
NS police Mobiles/Base: 160.560, 160.680, 160.545.
CSX Police: 160.875

Note: Even in the busiest of areas, the radio traffic from the railroad police is likely to be minimal due to the use of cell phones, nextels, etc. You may get lucky and hear some of the bulls doing surveillance or stings on the above frequencies. You might want to monitor the railroad road channels for your area too. Sometimes the bulls will radio the trains for info.
Good luck!!

CSX and Amtrak PD's

Several years back before CSX took over from Conrail, Conrail just about abolished their PD. Under NYS Charter they are ( RR's) required by law to maintain a PD however that can be only one (yes, one) person. What took place was they (Conrail) made all their remaining PD guys into management. Just a rough guess would place their numbers for NYS during the last days of Conrail somewhere around 3 for NYS. Complaints regarding the RR's were turned over to the NYSP in most areas. Regarding thefts and loss protection there are "Agents" that from the remaining members of the RR PD's that respond to problems (long term problems) to handle them. So with CSX taking over nothing has really changed. Now this leaves one with the logical assumption that with so few PD members still around for CSX the communications is almost non existent. You should find that what ever the PD frequencies that were being used with Conrail in those questioned areas should still be the same. Now for Amtrak....outside of Albany and Penn Station in NYC they are pretty slim also. In fact some of the Amtrak PD guys that work in Penn Station commute from Albany. Check the MTA PD frequencies I have listed on the board for frequencies in use in the southern tier of NYS and Ct. The others unfortunately I can't help you with.
