• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know what is the appropriate CPS Application for the CT150/250 radios? I was told the Entry Level Professional CPS is the CPS for the subject radios and the PMDN4077AR RIBless USB cable is the appropriate programming cable and to use the XP 32-bit operating system. I keep getting an error message saying turn on the RIB.

Thanks for checking.

I have the Commercial Radio Services CPS and that does not work either.

I got my hands on a Motorola PMKN4004A RIB to Radio programming cable yesterday however, I am running into a driver issue using my RIB with any radio including my Astro Sabers and XTS3000 radios, and MTS2000 radios.

I have to use a Serial Cable to USB adapter because my XP 32-Bit laptop does not have any serial ports. The Serial Cable to USB with the chip set requires a Prolific driver and that has been working fine for the last 15+ years, but I have a feeling it just may have taken a dump.

I have a couple RIBless USB cables for my MCS2000 and the PMDN4077AR with a single pin that connects to the CT150 radio and Device Manager is happy insofar as no port conflicts using the Prolific driver. When I try to read the CT150 radio with the single pin RIBless programming cable, I get an error that says turn on the RIB or the RIB is not present.

So, when I tried the PMKN4044A RIB cable that has a two-pin Motorola M1 type connector that plugs into the radio yesterday that is when I discovered a Port issue, but after further diagnostics, the RIB works fine for my HT1000, MT2000, and VISAR on my DOS computer setup so it appears that my RIB and Jedi cables are just fine. It has to be down to the Serial/USB adapter cable that may have taken a dump after 15 years of use.
