ctcss tones????

hello im trying to monitor frequency 460.600 tone pl 179.9 which should be talleyville fdept when 460,600 comes in its on pl 136.5 i dont want this i want 179.9 any suggestions as to what i need to do so i only hear the 179.9 tone thanks in advance

Um, well, you need a scanner that provides that ability, mainly. That is, one that can decode CTCSS/DCS. It would seem you have one, if it's displaying the tones.

I'd say, let us know which scanner you're using, so we can look up setting tone squelch in the manual. Of course, you could do that, too.

Sounds like you have it set for tone search. Select ctts (or what ever its called with the model you have). I take it another dept is using 136.5 ? Perhaps your tone data is wrong if all you see is 136.5 and never see 179.9
Give us a little more info

Looking at Frank's past posts he has a 996, I haven't fiddled with mine for awhile but I'm sure someone will post his fix here soon. By the way the 460.600 136.5 PL you are hearing is Harford County Maryland's Dispatch.

hello delcolhfc yes i do have the 996 thanks for youre reply i would like to know how i go about getting the 136.5 tone out so i can just hear the 179.9 tone thanks again frank

i think i mite have figured it out i monoitoring this rite know to see if this works thanks

If not do the following

Press menu
Select program system
select system
edit group
select group
edit channel
select channel
Set Audio Type
Analog Only
CTCSS
Find 179.9
Press E yes button
Press scan to exit menu
its done :)
