Engler may have been a crappy govenor but at least he never let prisioners out like Jenny is and he NEVER laid cops off. She is only doing this to choke the life out of the department and to revenge her not getting her ways in Lansing.

I do like the fact (sarcasm) that MSP was paying $1 a year to rent their headquarters, and now they are having a new one built that will cost $5 mil. a year.

I don't depend on the State Police for anything as far as I'm concerned their only good for writing tickets. Where were you when they disbanded Mount Clemens Royal Oak Twp and the Highland Park PD's? Because it didn't effect you did it? so you didn't care. so stop whinning.

They needed to disband those departments. All of them were under FEDERAL REVIEW and on tighter restrictions then Detroit ever has been..

Also had it not been for MSP 2 of your last 3 Murders in New Baltimore wouldn't have been cleared. Only beause the Chief in NB decided he didn't want to listen to me when I told him who killed that kid @ Mancinos, how they did it, who they were and when they did it and where they were before and after they did it.

Want to know how I know?? I was working as a armed guard in the trashhole trailer park they were partying at before and after, and they admitted it after they did it, and they came back with cash and food from that restraunt.

The Auto Industry is the reason Michigan is in this huge recession, for years the Auto Companies have given the unions a bank check, now the auto industry is wondering why Americans are buying the imports over the expense American made cars

The unions are to blame for the pulling out of this state and country and not the current President.

I am in a union so yes I can complain before I get gang raped by someone on here for the following statement.

Unions are about power and the almighty dollar just like the owners of the company themselfs.

But with the unions they want the top dollar in the auto industry for doing the same jobs some union factory worker making $8.00-9.00 and hour makes. A press opperator is a press opperator period. Look at Delphi the workers there made $46-72.00 an hour AN HOUR.. Thats bull to make that much working in a factory or auto lab when most of them only have a GED or Highschool Diploma when they were hired. Why is it that auto factory workers make more then our Public Safety workers do?

The unions response is they car companies make more so the employees are entitled to more. True to a point but in reality the companies are there as a BUSINESS to MAKE money where as the employees are there to help them MAKE money. Excessively high wages for meanial tasks is silly and dumbfounding..

When my grandfather retired as V.P. at the GM Tech Center he made no more then $60,000 a year the last 3 years there as a Vice President. Now at the time there were line workers installing car tires and dashes making $65000-80000 with the same number of years in and they got bonouses and grandpa didn't. Why? Because the unions then heald such a tight rope around the necks of the company that they would walk out if they didn't get a chunky fat raise every year.

A cop/medic/fire fighter gets killed for $30,000-49,000 a year while a auto factory worker comes in pushes a button and makes double that. COMPLETELY AND TOTALY ASSANINE in all respects of those words...

My union is useless completey. I work part time 35 hours a week and I pay $67 a check in union dues while other unions pay $67 a month in dues. Not only that but on top of that my union takes $115+ $67 out of the 1st check in October for dues.

Unions always have and always will be crooked for the most part. We can't compete with states that are non union that only pay $20 an hour for the job we are paying $40-90 an hour here. Thats why they are moving, its not the taxes its because the unions want XXXXXXX of dollars and then the prices of cars goes up so they can make money.

Thats my take though and I do believe that Public Safety (all branches) need a union because of the job and that anything can cause you to lose your job. While as in a factory you have to damn near kill someone to lose your job. Most unions protect the ones that don't need to be protected and don't push to protect the ones that really are getting screwed.

In an article from todays Detroit Free Press regarding the states financial woes the Legislature has killed the 2% service tax and I found this line in the article,

"But the Senate bill added $2.5 million to the State Police budget to avert 29 trooper layoffs that Granholm had promised".

The BIG 3 did agree, and you know what had they not agreed they wouldn't be in business because the unions walk in say we want X of dollars if you don't give it to us then we walk and you lose money.
