    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

DAK MARK X help needed.

I picked up a DAK MARK X a couple weeks ago.

I was told it was perfectly working, but a previous owner was going to part it out before the gentleman I bought it from received it. That was definitely evident by all the knobs being MIA.



Once I got it home I pulled the cover off and discovered all the wires to the gauges had been cut. I have a copy of the schematics, but they might as well be in a foreign language to me. If the wires in the schematics were at least color coded I might have a fighting chance.








I also have no idea what the two extra toggle switches are for on the left side. (Top of the next picture)



If anyone has some pictures of how the wiring should look I would love it if you can pass them along to me. I also wouldn't mind if I knew what I should check in order to insure the radio will work after I get it back together.
Any help in getting this back to working condition is greatly appreciated!

If you decide to part out the Dak Mark X I would be interested in buying the rear panel if it's in good condition without extra holes.

They don't usually put wire colors on schematics because, in a chassis wiring, the wire color could change during different production runs. It is also common to use the same colored wire for everything. With all the wires bundled together, even pictures may not give you enough detail.

Your best bet is to find a friend that can read a schematic and use a multi-meter. It's not that difficult to learn how the read them. Being a hybrid rig (solid state and tube), there are voltages in the 400-500 volt range. Touching them will probably not kill you, but they will make you pay attention.

The switches are a obvious addition. You should be able to follow the wires to their destination and then locate the connection point on the schematic. Again, you need someone that can read the schematic.

The only schematics that I found are only for the solid state portion. I couldn't find anything for the tube section.
