As an educated guess, the problem appears to be on the other end:
Apr 29 16:46:32 pi2 darkice[25664]: DarkIce: IceCast2.cpp:261: Icecast2 - Unexpected response from server [0]

Theres no icecast installed though. Ive even tried installing it and it doesnt fix the issue.
Looking through, this appears to be on BC's side. Ive submitted a ticket.

Icecast2 is the protocol, not an application and as such it is part of the darkice installation. The error I highlighted last night suggests something unexpected is being reported by the remote server. I think you best course of action is indeed to submit a trouble ticket and see what transpires once the server admin takes a look. Is there anything in the darkice syslog that might give you more clues?

Ah ok that makes more sense.

BC admins got back, they think its an ISP issue somewhere, so hunting that down, which makes sense since it started middle of night. Im also able to replicate it on multiple Pi's now.

Where can said syslog be found? Looked all over, only docs I can find is to lookup under journalctl with some grepping.

So new problem, I can get no audio out of darkice. The server at the far end thinks its getting data, but no audio comes across. Even using aplay to test with audio fails. I know this is a problem with either my loop or darkice. OP25 plays just fine locally.

Boatbod, I looked for logs in /var/log, dont see anything for darkice. journalctl outputs some but Ive no idea where its getting from.

Darkice writes to /var/log/syslog on my Mint system
