• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

New to Unication, but have programmed almost everything else including Mother /\/\, so not a newbie.

Got a used G4. Works. I want it set up 'my way.'

PPS will detect the unit, tells me the serial number from connected devices button and the unit says PC connected. After going through the motions it says 'Data not read.' The unit says Data Exported (or some such).

Main programming PC is a Surface tablet which works fine for everything else including APX software. Tried installing PPS on a gaming computer with the same issue. Installed the drivers, used different cables, same result every time. Firmware is 1.31 and can't update firmware without reading unit. Completely at a loss.

What version of PPS are you using?

Firmware 1.31 is pretty old.

Don’t think you need to read pager to upgrade firmware, but I guess it is a risk that you may lose programming if pager is only copy you have.

Profiles created in older PPS (required with older firmware) doesn’t work as well in newer (v0.4.x) PPS. This means you need to do the programming over from scratch to enjoy the benefits of new PPS and maybe to even work on new PPS.

Newest PPS. Whatever is downloaded now. And yes, to upgrade it says you have to read unit first. Unless I missed something.

Don't really mind losing current programming, was hoping to use it as a base.

I'll build a small codeplug/programming and see if that takes.

Yes. It will take programming. So time to start from scratch, LOL. Thanks.

Since you have an older pager, don't upgrade the firmware to anything higher than V1.35! If you ever decide to go to that version, you can message me.
