Still new to this. Have been playing with a pair of Pofung radios for a while. Recently purchased a RTL SDR and built a minimalist antenna. I have been picking up what sounds to me like data on 172.962.000 Anyone know anything about this? Its very consistent. Comes in bursts and will stop for 10-15 seconds. Then it will start again. Curiosity gets the best of me. Attatched WAV file.

It would help if we knew where You are located at.
I listened to it, and I have never heard it before.

Could it possibly be a land based locator/channel marker for barges? Here is a Snippet of the waterfall.

Freq would actually be
172.9500, 172.9625 or 172.9750

Yes, in the Power/Water Telemetry band above the OP's Freq
173.20375
173.39625

However +/- from the posted Freq are FAA/TSA and the allocation is likely NTIA not Part 90 (FCC)

Doesn't rule out Federal SCADA, but generally those are 12.5 Khz channel spacing

All the location is fixed now. Sorry about that. Is there a way to decode the transmissions out of curiosity? I am interested in what it has to tell.
