I just got my Uniden BCD436HP today, and I've been playing with it and noticed that the database hasn't been updated since 2021, so I've been trying to update it in Sentinel, and I keep getting this message: "This version of the database is the current version," even though that's not true. What do I do about this?

When you update the database, it only updates the database in your computer. The database in the scanner is not updated until you Write to Scanner, even if the scanner is connected to your computer when you update the database.

What version of the database is shown here? As long as this is current then you should be able to write it to the scanner as described & it will be up to date

In case you're not aware, when connecting, Sentinel does not automatically update the scanner, neither database nor firmware. Updating the master database doesn't start updating the scanner. You have to click on Scanner > Write to Scanner. (Make sure Target is set to BCD436HP, so it'll recognise it.)

I got it to work. I didn't know I had to write it to scanner after updating sentinel's database. thx guys
The same thing is true with working with favourites lists.

Also, if you haven't yet, make sure to update the firmware, which the updating process only works when the scanner is connected to Sentinel.

I already updated the firmware while trying to find a way to update the database.

I was confused in the same exact way when I first started using Sentinel. It's a learning experience. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Any changes you make in Sentinel, whether updating the Database or Favorites List work have to be written to the scanner for them to take effect.

Conversely, if you make some changes in your scanner, be sure to read them into Sentinel somewhere along the way. That's to keep both the Scanner and Sentinel in unison/coordinated.

Since I'm offering comments for a "newish" user, consider getting a second/spare SD card just in case. Also figure out some way of being sure you have backup copies of your Sentinel files in case of computer crash.

Think of editing you Favorites List, like:

1. Gassing up your vehicle at the gas station(editing)
2. Stepping on the gas to make the vehicle move(uploading to scanner)
