DC Trunked

I'm posting this on the MD board, since we are much more active than DC and thus I will more likely get a timely response. Was in DC tonight....first time I've been there since the DCPD rolled out the digital radio system. To my surprise, my 796 didn't trunk properly on the DC system- but was decoding the digital signal nicely. I'd used the included software to program the radio and did select Type II UHF. Is there a way to program DCPD w/ the Uniden software....or must I enter this system's data manually to get it to work?

Did you forget to put in the base/offset? That's required when trunking UHF systems. It won't trunk without them.

It doesn't appear that the Uniden software offers a place to add that in, Mike....unless I am missing something. I believe that I correctly added the base/offset manually into the 796 last night and assume that will rectify the problem....will see the next time I'm in DC. Mostly I'm curious if there is a way to automatically enter this via the Uniden software- which I have actually been otherwise quite pleased with....although I know that many of you much prefer ARC and other commercial software packages.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure this is right (maybe UPMan can help with this), but I think there's a specific sequence of events when programming a UHF trunk; you declare the system, then enter the base/offset/spacing, then the frequencies. I *think* that if you forget to put the spacing in, trying to do it after the fact won't work. But I could easily be wrong about this.

Like I said, UPMan might be a good one to ask. Also I'd ask Jim Springer, since EScanner is a cut down version of Scancat. He's frequently found on the Scancat Yahoo group.

Dave, I missed this also the first few time I used the Uniden software that came with my 296. Just one of the reasons why I upgraded to the ARC250Pro. Since this forum will not allow me to paste screen shots, see the attached word file for a discription of how to diplay the trunked system settings.

I've totally overlooked that all this time. Probably because I'm forced to run the program at a different screen resolution. That'll make things much easier.
Now I just wish I could set the beep and L/O for TGs.
