On the 800 mhz system, does anyone know if the fire activity is broadcast statewide, or is each county only transmitted through the local systems in each County?

I'm in Clayton but like to listen statewide. I have all of the sites programmed but I often miss a lot since it takes so long for the 996xt to scan through each site.

This morning I was listening to a fire call in Sussex and happened to look over & saw that the Sussex activity was being recieved on the Kent site.

Thanks for any info,

I have the sites set up om individual keys, but I don't want to scan them all if the fire broadcasts are sent state wide. If they are state wide on all sites, I will only have to scan one site vs. 5, thus a faster scan speed.

I've listened to activity in Lewes from my house outside Wilmington, so I believe everything is available from all towers. On my PSR500, I just loaded in all of the sites since I drive around a lot, but on your base scanner you'll be fine with just the local sites.

Delaware broadcasts certain talkgroups locally, regionally, and statewide. With the PRO 106 or PSR 500 you can set the DE system or STARS to roam and it will monitor the strongest control channel for that talkgroup. For instance, in Delaware SFIRE4 (Sussex Fire 4) is rebroadcast on both the Sussex and Kent County DE tower sites and not New Castle. NEMSOPS (New Castle EMS operations) is rebroadcast on the New Castle and Kent County tower sites and not Sussex. Its much easier to accomplish with only three counties. I don't monitor much more than fire and ems so I can't speak as to how other agencies are setup whether they are broadcast locally, regionally, or statewide. I know STARS works in a similar way but I have not monitored it enough to understand the roaming capabilities of particular talkgroups either.

Thanks....

I was wondering why I was getting Sussex out of the Kent Site. I am only scanning Kent & NCC now, so it helps the scan speed. It would be nice if the system was statewide where only one site would need to be scanned.

Some FireBoard TGs affiliate to multiple Zones. You will hear Kent Co FireBoard TGs on the NCCo or Kent Co Zone, and Kent and Sussex Co TGs on the Kent and Sussex Zones.
