Saw their security units carrying Mototrbo 6500's. The radio does analog as well as digital so there is the possibility of them going all digital. We will see what happens I guess. There is a new freq posted to the DB that is assigned to their security. Do not know if it is multi-mode or if it is just a new analog repeater with higher end handhelds for the fun of it. The radios look sharp, feel good in the hand, and have great audio quality. Might be something I have to pickup.

There appears to be some sub-voice tone/code control on it that cuts the phone patch when the radio is out of range. It may run on signal quality alone, but that seems like a bad way to configure a phone patch. The audio/ring that I am hearing on the scanner was the same that I heard on the HH that I saw.

Upon hearing another voice transmission it sounds like a series of quick ptt's is what killed the patch. Wonder if that is the way it was sensing the cut from the low signal quality radio?

Analog. The radio is pretty nice...and rugged. I'm hard on radios.

You're fortunate that you work a job where you have the buying power to purchase a radio like that. With most of the jobs I've ever had, the radios you use are whatever they give you.

Psh - we'd need to set up some simplex TDMA ham freqs for sure!! (and perhaps get the TRBO repeater eventually too). I can just imagine all the people that are going to get on this and start the TDMA isn't legal on the ham bands just like they did for P25 then dstar etc....

heheh
I'll just sit here and instigate.

Oh, and the price schedule on those isn't nearly as bad as the XTS/XTL series.

Were going with the exact same system out here where I work. Radios come from One link Wireless for us and Deaconess.

We will be using the MotoTRBO XPR8300 digital base, and the XPR 6550 portables. We should be on the air in the next few months.
