This is kinda hard to explain;

If I have only group 5 active (all others off), channel 200 prevents the other channels to scan. I can manually step through the rest of the channels, but in scan mode the channel freezes the scan mode no matter what frequency it's tuned to. Also I can't lock out the channel.

Any ideas??

Is any audio heard on the channel in question? Turning squelch up yields no improvement? Why can't the channel be locked out?

Mistake on my part.
Channel 200 was the last in group 4 and all other channels were locked out at the time.

My bad.

Sounds like a byte or two of defective memory. I'd perform a factory reset and include a memory test. You will have to re-program but this could give you an answer.

1980's tech did not really have a memory test in it.
