To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a DMR Talk Group programmed in Roaming mode scanning 15 local DMR repeaters that repeat the specific Talk Group. When I turn on the radio it displays the Talk Group name, and the yellow LED is flashing in scan mode, (everything is normal) When I add one specific DMR repeater to the "Roam List" (which also repeats the Talk Group) whenever the repeater keys up, the radio moves over to that channel, the yellow LED stops blinking and I can see green bars showing the repeater carrier is active. It does this whenever there is a carrier (the specific Talk Group I have programmed is NOT active). Does anyone understand why this one repeater has this behavior, while the other repeaters, when they start repeating a Talk Group I haven't programmed, the radio doesn't follow over to that machine and stop scanning? I must have something incorrectly set up, plus I don't understand why this one repeater when active changes the behavior of the scan vs all the other repeaters... Any suggestions appreciated.

Roaming is different than Scanning when it comes to DMR. 15 is the typical max # of IPSC sites in a roaming list. Are you designating conventional repeaters as IPSC? Are you using a Channel Pool ? Is it possible that the Talk Group has an ID that equates to an All Call ?

What's your radio's exact model # and firmware version? using CPS 16 or CPS2 ?

Hey Radio Guy,

I'm using CPS2, Firmware: R02.24.02.1002 CP Ver: 24.22.09, I have intentionally set up "roaming" of DMR only IP Connected machines on a Ham Radio talk group (Tri-State & PA-Statewide). Under the Zone tab I have created #1 zone position for the Tri-State TG and #2 position for the PA-Statewide TG. Yes, I have set up a Channel Pool of all DMR digital repeaters that support either of those TGs around me. Under the Scan Lists tab, I have created a separate Roam list for each TG where the repeaters are assigned to the correct TG they support. I think I have it set up correctly, but I am not following your question about a TG that is ALL Call. Thanks for helping me.
