If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an old DeltaProg program in my lot for frogramming the X2212 E2PROM. What I can't find is the hardware or schematics for same. Talking about the serial hardware here.
Anyone with info for that would be a big help.

Ooooo... tricky. Only info I've ever seen involved building a special prom burner with a ZIF socket and various other components, and even then it used the parallel port on the computer. With additional components it could use the serial port.

I'll dig around and see if I can find the info I had.

Huh, that wasn't tough. Guess I consolidated it into my cloud folder with everything else. Try this; it's for parallel port programming, but if you have an older computer sitting around you're all set.

I've never heard of anyone trying it with a USB-Parallel adapter but it might be worth a try.

You know, I got to thinking about this. . . If you can scare up an S825 control head, your problem is solved for the Delta/Rangr radios.

The S825 programs with a serial cable; the way it works is that the programming is stored in the control head, and every time you change "zones" it dumps a new program into the EPROM via the control head cable. I don't recall how many channels you could put in a "zone" but I think it was 32.

Quite a few people on a thread I read (I forget where) would program an S825 with their desired channel plan and features, dump that program into the Delta/Rangr radio, then use one of the fancier "standard" (S950, S990) control heads with the radio.

I've never tried it myself but I've got a handful of Delta/Rangr radios in the garage and a couple S825 control heads (and at least one S950 or S990 head as well). Might have to give it a try just for giggles.

This DeltaProg is some 3rd party software. It is restricted to COM1 RS232 serial port.
There are a number of parallel burners I have found, but awful software.
I have been using DeltaProg as it will make a code plug file I use for hacking.
Yea, I ran across that emulator and the price is double that suitcase programmer from GE.
Sort of made one of those years back from a credit card terminal. working on much the same now with improvements. (include CTCSS/DCS)
Back in the day, seems I had a prom burner that could do the X2212, I know it could do the 8049, that is how I fudged the Delta firmware. Needham's PB10 I think.
Been looking for a s825, but I think that RS232 programming is with the suitcase programmer.
The radio can program from the front plug.
These are old boat anchor door stops, but built like a tank, easy to mod and good as any today's radios.
I suppose I could engineer my own programmer, hoping for some shortcuts.

I have a burner that came from niles communication.....burnt many eproms..But I am sure the dude that said I wasnt smart enough will reply...
Yea, I have a box full of burners and would like a dime for every EPROM and MCU I have programmed.
Acquiring what to put on the device is the hard part. (Like burning a DVD)

The S825 will program serial from DOS software. The head stores the info and downloads it the the radio. I've got 2 GE suitcase programmers that will burn Phoenix, Delta S, Delta SX, Rangr, Eproms and a few others. If you look hard enough you may find one pop up on Ebay but usually people will know there value.

I don't think I will be going the suitcase programmer route. 'When' they turn up on ebay sellers want more than they are worth. I noted my bad about the s825, should have known better given I have that software.
