Been missing since 1300hrs, Air-1 now up and bolo going to other area departments as well and PIO requested to the command post.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Denver never uses some of the available local search resources such as Front Range Rescue Dogs, RMR, Alpine, ARP, CAP etc?

Travis, I also think they moved the CP to Dist 3 Tac 04-062.

Now getting lots of CSP resources involved, guess this kid likes to walk on the highways.

Now asking a lot of DPD officers that were working the Broncos game on Tac 1 if they are available to respond to Dist 3 to assist in the search.

Too bad it took the media almost 6hrs to pickup this story

Denver Police asked the public's help in locating a 13-year-boy with mental and physical disabilities who wandered away from a group home this afternoon.

Several patrol officers were searching the area around Monaco House, a group home at 2421 South Monaco Parkway for Muncie Shortridge, whose disappearance resulted in a call to police at about 1:50 p.m., said police spokeswoman Sharon Hahn.

"Our concern is that the weather is changing, it's cold out here and all he has on is a dark blue hoodie, jeans and tennis shoes," Hahn said shortly before 6 p.m.. "As cold as it is now, it's only going to get colder."

Police released a picture of the youngster and the following description: a Hispanic male about 5-foot-five, who weighs between 100 to 115 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

He wears leg braces and has a distinctive gait because he walks with his knees bent, Hahn said. She urged people in the neighborhood to take a look around and see if they notice anything. Anyone who sees him is asked to dial 911.

"The faster we get him located and back home safe the better," she said.

EPN blast?

Similiar to reverse 911

Emergency Preparedness Network (EPN) is an instantaneous notification system, which eliminates the need for Denver 911 to notify residents individually. The EPN uses the 911 database as its source of telephone numbers. Both published and non-published numbers are dialed and the EPN will leave a message if an answering machine picks up. The system will immediately notify residents of emergency situations in their vicinity. Don't call 911 after you are alerted by the EPN system unless the message directs you to do so. Calling 911 in this instance jams the 911 lines for other emergencies.
