Minimal activity on 978 now. My understanding is that there is a deadline where all general aviation aircraft will have to have ADS-B. The newer technology UAT 978MHz is an alternative for aircraft that fly only below 16,000 feet. If you are in range of a ground station, there may be weather info on it as well.
The Airspy folks had that same filter made for 978MHz for me. Since I still don't have a decent antenna for 978 yet, the jury is still out on how it is working.

Interesting. Once I get this 1090 set up and running I might look into that. On a side note, I found out that Airspy.us is in California but they ship out of a warehouse in Pensylvania. This is great for me here in Connecticut. I ordered the filter yesterday and it's scheduled to arrive here on Monday. That's excellent news. I'm gonna take the filter out of the case and paint the case flat black. I just have to figure out how to power it via the sub port.

I haven't received the external antenna to connect to the dongle yet so I'm stuck with the little indoor tiny thing. I did however receive the amp. I went from 3-6 aircraft on radar to this: Thank you for suggesting it Chris!
