Lately myself and others are unable to pickup Hazard City Police, someone said they have gone digital. Well, that's fine if they did, but where can I find out the new freq? Nothing has changed on here, still same old freq.

Nothing shows us as new/pending in the FCC database as of today.
Suggest doing search between 151-160 Mhz.

Someone told me that Hazard city Pd has changed their system because of a homeland security deal. Does anyone know why they would do that, Im just curious to know? I really miss hearing them, we dont get much signal up here in the mountains.

Probably the same reason so many other agencies do/did. They got some grant money for homeland security and while they may have needed to improve their system, rather than make the necessary improvements, thanks to some sales team convincing them they need to, they decided to start from scratch with unproven technology and spend the tax payers money on something much more expensive.

But hey, all these digital radio systems sure are keeping those terrorists at bay.
