I've looked at the Eton Elite 750 in the past, but honestly was not too interested in it. However I heard today that one guy uses it to scan the police bands. Can this radio actually be used as a scanner too? If so, I may have to re-think this.
Not according to it's advertised specifications, unless the person claiming that is in a part of the country where they use frequencies below 30MHz for law enforcement. Maybe someone figured out a way to open up the receive?
I'm in the market for a shortwave radio with SSB capability, but really don't want to spend a king's ransom as I semi-retired this week and decided to go part-time and enjoy life a little more. I'm open to suggestions for decent radios.
This radio was reviewed in the April 2021 QST.
It does not cover the VHF and UHF public safety bands.
It is a nice radio for casual SW listening.
It does have SSB capability.

I bought one a few months back and I'm listening to it right now and the answer to your question is NO
I got it when my R75 finally died, I had one of the first ones and this radio is definitely not an R75 but it's a nice sounding radio for casual listening and relatively inexpensive.
So if I’m hearing you all, the Eton 750 does not have the capability of receiving both the 136-174 MHz VHF nor the 400-520 UHF MHz bands As say the Baofeng BF-F8HP? Thanks in advance as I’m just starting out here.
