When programming a digital VHF system the 296d defaults to FM mode. If I were to change the frequency setting to NFM mode, does this have any effect on the recieved signal, strength, or the ability to decode the digital singal? To my ears I don't hear much difference on analog signals. Does going to NFM make the reciever more selective? I thought I read somewhere about how going between FM and NFM has an effect on how a 396d performs.
If I occasionally hear the digital "noise" burst before hearing the radio decode digital voice does this mean the signal being recieved is weak? The system in question is Motorola.
I have also noticed that when I make a digital sound quality adjustment, the only values that change are the "lower limit"...the mid and high limit ranges seem to stay the same. Is this right or is there another trick to changing Mid and high values?
