new to scanning so if the question is stupid thats why....
i just bought a handheld digital scanner...radio shack programmed it for me and it works great. love listening to it and i listen to it all the time. it is programmed for indianapolis where i live, but i work in new castle...i come pretty close to picking up indianapolis signal here but im short about 7 miles. is there anyway i can have my scanner programmed for 2 or 3 seperate counties? or just marion and henry?
if not is there a way when i am traveling to listen in on certain counties as i am passing by?

thanks

you didn't say which scanner you have, so if its digital must be either a Pro96 or 2096, with either one you can program 10, 20 even 100 systems if you want that many. Counties have nothing to do with it. You can but WIN96 from www.starrsoft.com and the correct cable and program you scanner any way you want.

He DID say what he had. A HANDHELD DIGITAL scanner from RadioShack. That's the PRO-96.

You can separate each county into separate banks that you can turn on and off as you move back and forth, if you wish... That's what I do.

thanks for the help...my scanner is a pro-96. anyone familiar enough with it to tell me how to change to say bank 1 (im programmed on bank 0 right now for indy)? i went to radio shack in new castle and they do not know how to program one of these...so its up to me i guess...i read the operating instruction manual and they talked a lot about v-scanner. it sounded like to me that i needed to set up a different v-scanner....or is the best way to set up different banks?
thanks again

First of all the PGM that R/S downloaded into your scanner should be replaced with a program from someone who actually knows how to PGM the 96. Get the software. Worth every penny. Post on this board for someone in your area with a good PGM and ask for a clone or even offer to paysomeone to PGM it like you need. Once you get a good PGM or clone then backload the PGM into your WIN96 software. Here you can see what the PGM looks like in the scanner. You can see each and every bank
in detail. Understanding how to program this radio comes easy when you can look at the PGM on your monitor. Make changes you need and download the fresh info to the scanner. Good Luck
