Looking at the documentation with trunker 3.83 it explains that “Gd” is a digital non-encrypted TG and “gd” is an encrypted TG. The funny thing is that groups that are in fact encrypted show up a non-encrypted “Gd”. I know at times theses groups that show up as non-encrypted are sometimes run in the non-encrypted mode but 99.5 % of the time they are full encrypted. I have tried setting the “TRACKDIGITAL” line to both 1 and 0. When I first start trunker it will for a few seconds report the encrypted groups correctly and then after a few second as “Gd”. Any thoughts on this problem?

Is your receive % hi quality? Trunker will misreport things if your signal isn't up to snuff. But it shouldn't be misreporting all the time. There's something goofy or unique about the system your listening to. What system is this? Is it new?

Hey jets1961, reading through your previous posts you are from Saskatchewan. You must be listening to the Regina A429 system. The Police are fully encrypted, only thier phone patches are in the clear. If this is the system you are referring to, trunker always displays "gd" for all the police talkgroups all the time for me. Your problem has to be reception. You must live outside the city if your having reception probs. The only thing I can suggest is a better (outside) antenna.

If this is the only problem you are experiencing, I wouldn't really worry about it. The only time I would get concerned is if TG's and RID's are being misreported.

Regards,
Richster.

Yes the quality is high (96 to 98.5%). The system is a wide area type II system, Manitoba 4032h, so I think it's a common mixed mode system.

I think when I used to run trunker under Win 98 trunker did not have this problem (Win 2000 now) but I am not sure. When I get my hands on an old 686 I am going to run it exclusively for DOS programs and see how it performs.

No I am in MB. Is that system in SK really encrypted, are you talking the RCMP system or a city system? I thought they were using VHF patched to a EDACs system (RCMP), is that correct? I will go look at reference.

Yes the system I am talking about is the City of Regina Motorola Astro II Mixed Mode system. It is not the Province wide EDACS system.

Hmmm well it's not reception then. It very well may be because you are running trunker in a "DOS BOX" within windows. Try it in just plain old DOS and see what it does. Unless your running that trunker version that runs via sound card, then your stuck.

I'll check to see if 4032h is in the database.

Richster.
