I am looking any disaster related communication into and out of the effected areas in Kentucky due to last weeks Ice/Snow storm.

Come with Amateur (Ham) Radio, and other links and/or frequencies.

Thanks.

Utility Freqs>>>

Guess this is as good a place as any to start a listing of UTILITY related freqs monitored during this icy mess...
452.400 (P25) WPUI977 Kentucky Utilities (Central Kentucky wide)
153.440/136.5 PL KIC655 Blue Grass Energy (Central Kentucky wide)
153.575/127.3 PL KIC404 Shelby Energy (Centered on Shelby County)

At the suggestion of a Kentucky rr.commer, I'll add a state level listing later today for utility freqs since they appear to cover multiple counties.

Louisville Gas and Electric work off of 451.125 / 451.225 / 451.425 with pl of 206.5 for all channels. I have noticed units from Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, as well as tree trimming companies working with the crews. If anyone cares, they are staging at the Kentucky Fairgrounds near the Broadbent Arena

Thanx Doug.... those are posted! The Regional Utilities Radio Reference currently is gleaned from postings in individual counties from the Kentucky data base... Trunked systems that are obviously utility related have been included, if there are others, please let me know... A favor to ask, in submissions to the Regional page also include the individual county where you monitored the transmissions.... anything missing let me know.... Happy Scanning!!!

I did a quick FCC search on LG&E frequencies, and put them in spreadsheet.
There are several low power portable frequencies listed, I tried to remove all the repeater inputs, not sure if I missed any or deleted the wrong ones.
Also, they have some Marine frequencies, but I did not list those. Perhaps another day, I don't think they'll be working on the water this week anyhow. Maybe if I get bored, I'll try KU

Microsoft spreadsheet attached. Remove the .TXT ending to use.

KY EMA: "New Madrid Ice Quake"

from Kentucky Division of Emergency Management:

FRANKFORT, Ky (February 3, 2009/3 a.m. EST) -- Kentucky's Earthquake Awareness Week activities--originally set for February 1-7--have been postponed due to the "New Madrid Ice Quake."

This includes the scheduled Emergency Alert System test pertaining to the statewide Earthquake Safety Drill, which has been cancelled. Instead the following EAS message will be released:

"This is a test of the Emergency Alert System --this is only a test. Due to the recent winter storm that devastated much of Kentucky, the scheduled Earthquake Drill has been cancelled. If you are without power and are using auxiliary heating devices or power generator, please read your owner's manual and follow the safety instructions. It could save your life. At this time, Kentucky has been granted a Presidential Emergency Disaster Declaration. This is for emergency relief and life-saving measures only. Other types of assistance may be available in the near future. Repeat, this has only been a test of the Emergency Alert System. This concludes this test."

May not be the right place, but, I was out riding around this morning and saw the staging area for Alabama Power and Georgia. Complete with Communication Centers, multiple Alabama Power and Georgia Power Security units. When these guys roll in, they roll in style and full force. 2 good size trailers for the communications as well as a wellness facility for Georgia and a Alabama Power Company Security EOC.

Just thought i would share. If I get back out again, I will take the camera and snap a few pics...Papa Johns south lot is loaded with Georgia and Alabama folks...Gate 10 of Churchill Downs is where they have trailers for showers, sleeping and eating for some of the folks...

Can you all say increase in utility bills?!?!?!

Take a listen on RCS Ky system if you get the chance and see if 700-xx groups are active, I want to check and make sure one of the groups is not connected to the fairgrounds.

I hear them referenced occasional, not sure if Churchill or the fairgrounds.
