Discone antenna mount

I have a discone antenna on a mast of a 10 ft x 1" galvanized conduit. The mast is mounted on a bracket on the railing of our upper deck.

The scanner is a Bearcat BCT 15X.

Would I get better receive using a mast extension of wood or PVC ??

New at this, and would appreciate some insight.

No the metal conduit inside the skirt of the Discone is just fine.
