Here's a few pictures of where all that stuff your scanner "picks up" ORIGINATES if you're ever in SE Ohio....Gallia County 911 Center's Zetron Radio Consoles....In the photo's, you're seeing 911 Operators showing a Jr high student what 911 is all about, another is one of our operators posing for her fair picture and lastly, our mascot !!!!

Added Pictures

I tried to EDIT this post to add a few more pictures and information. There wasn't an EDIT Option available to me....So, I did it this way....We have three console positions at out facility, each of which are displayed in the 1st post. We recently added a new Pro2096 scanner to one console so we can monitor the new Ohio MARCS system from the 911 Center. Anyway, for your viewing enjoyment....We dispatch for the Gallia Co sheriff, Gallipolis PD, 3 village marshals, the county operated EMS and 10 volunteer fire departments. Steve/KB8FAR

I miss dispatching sometimes. Being in the police academy now, its not even an option since it will not hold a peace officer certification in Ohio.

Here's my workspace. This is one of three identical dispatch consoles in our radio room. This is primary dispatch-all PD dispatching is done from this console on PD Ch. 1. The 2nd console is for all non-emergent PD traffic, which uses PD Ch. 2. All motor vehicle and warrant look-ups are also done on the Ch. 2 console. The 3rd console is FD/EMS dispatch. All 3 consoles are identically equipped with all 11 channels that we monitor (2 PD, 2 FD, 3 EMS, 2 DPW, 1 County DPW, and 1 State-wide PD), a phone, PSAP equipment, and video monitoring of HQ. Also, the console pictured (PD Ch. 1) has a manual dispatch card slot in the upper right side of the console. That's not the way you want to dispatch when you cover 30 square miles, have 10-15 officers on the road at any given time, and have 5 fire companies and 2 EMS companies to dispatch! Additionally we have 2 call-take only consoles that have only a phone, PSAP equipment, and a computer.

While some of the equipment may be a bit dated it's still a fun place to work in....15 years and it still hasn't become a job to me yet!

Here are some before and after pictures of my former workspace. Radio room was closed and dispatching contracted out to another agency; my last duty was to dismantle the equipment and pack it up for proper disposition:

Retired Disp Area

Hey Tom, It is sad when a place that you'd come to really enjoy is forced into retirement. we did that here. But, at least here, it was for the best. The equipment we left behind was ancient Motorola stuff. Dual channel only. Couldn't talk to anyone but our cars and FD. AND, we took all of the existing dispatchers that wanted to go to the NEW facility and equipment. Again, We were sad to leave the old area, but better off in the long run....Below is the "New & Improved" version of where we moved to...Steve/KB8FAR

yes, same here, 4 days a week 10 hours a day i'm at a 911 center, our link: Columbia-Richland Communications , we still have the old motorola phones as well, do not use dicta-phone anymore, have a recorder on the pc, and we've moved to the 800mhz system, which we also use the computer to trasmit/recieve on it, each station still has a wt for back up situations. we are suppose to be getting new consoles this year, with wireless phase II gps ability, which will be nice.....

Visited the Ascension Parish 911 center when taking Firefighter training in that parish. Here's a pic I took on that "Field Trip".
