I hate to say this but I am no longer going to post on any of the Forums anymore. I have had some people send me PM's with the Gist of how I do not know anything about radio's or the Scanning Hobby and that I should just keep my wrong information to myself and not clog up the Threads. iI will have rmiles relay all the info now for Harford Co System. As Him & I have been working very hard with the Harford County System to get the Harford Co. Talkgroups. to you

Have Fun

Gee that's really ashame. I don't know about others, but I for one definately value your hard work, and the information you provide for the hobby. Unfortunately things aren't always as accurate, but hey we all make mistakes. If there's a mistake others will pick up on it. There's no need for people to get all huffy becuase someone has made some mistakes. People should have constructive criticism. It really is ashame that our already small hobby will lose a valuble source of info due to people not showing the proper appreciation for the hardwork done by others. (Even if there are some mistakes.)

Nathan, I'm not going to attempt to talk you in to coming back. You've already made up your decision, and I respect it. However, I definately am sorry to see you go.

To others: Maybe it's time to sit back and take a look at how we speak to each other. Recently I've noticed more and more bickering and provokation. It's reasonable to expect more of that as the population on this site grows. However, I've noticed that most of the people at fault are long time members. Our small hobby can use the help of anybody willing to help. If we can't get along, this wonderful resource, as well as the scanning community in general, will self destruct. Maybe we ought to not worry about the rise of encryption, but rather the rise of un-appreciation, and bickering. This will destroy the hobby faster then APCO can pass any new standard.

If you read this far I thank you. I apologize for preaching, however I felt it was about time these issues where addressed by someone.

I feel the same way as Mo. I hate to see you go, Nathan, because you've been a source of otherwise hard-to-get information. But it's your decision, and it's a shame to see you go.

Unfortunately, there are those that will try to put people that actually contribute and put data (or pages, in my case) out there for people to use, only to be put down by the spiteful (or jealous) few. I know, 'cause it's happened to me. I ignore them and go on contributing.

Let them stew in their own pot - I'd much rather play in others

Your posts & contributions have proven useful to me, and obviously others here [judging by the number of posts in your defense if nothing else].

Nathan,
DON'T GOOOOO!!!!!! :(

Your wealth of knowledge in this field for this state is indispensable. To see your post, I believe, speaks the truth and disseminates a large amount of information for our hobby. I would trust your posts over those that don't have the spine to debate their ideas of right or wrong in a public forum.

I hate to say this, but I will try to talk you in to staying. Please reconsider.

Mike

Nathan,

Please, listen to DC2wheels' advice and "SCREW THEM". Their are always a percentage of folks "out there" that just have problems. Don't let those folks get under your skin. The reason I joined the Radioreference is to share my love of scanning. In addition, I like having the ability to learn from others about scanning via the forums. Please, continue sharing your knowledge with "us".

ANYWAY

People quite often are unreasonable, illogical and self centered. Love them anyway!

If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway!

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway!

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway!

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway!

The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds. Think big anyway!

People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs. Fight for some underdogs anyway!

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway!

People really need help, but may attack you if you help them. Help them anyway!

Give the world the best you have and you might get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you’ve got anyway!

Nathan-

I have used information that you provided when I was up that way or needed to know information from Maryland in general (I live in Prince William County, VA). I hope that you dont let the negative people on the site get to you too much. I know they are annoying but they really are the minority. Anyways I just wanted to say thanks to you, Mo and everyone in the Baltimore/Washington area that contributes to this site.

Sam I appreciate you kind words, however, there's no need to single me out. Alan, Mike, Nathan, and all the others are definately more deserving of the praise. I really am still a novice, who posts just a wee bit too much :)

Nathan,
Sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier(more travel) but I hope you stick around. Being a scanner enthusist is really a "lone-wolf" activity and this board is a nice place to get some community. So jump on, communicate your interests and ignore the rest.

This board has been far and away the best "community" I have seen over the Internet. After the AOL "Ham Radio Forum" fiasco in the mid-90's and then the alt.radio.scanner/rec.radio.scanner wars in the late 90's, I didn't hold out much hope. But, I think from reading the comments this thread there is a decent size group of folks who can get along and share some good scanner info.

Cheers, Denis
