I've had this problem since first tracking DMR conventional systems with my 325, and also getting my 996 later. The scanner occasionally appears to randomly show false talkgroups, including those that share traffic with already programmed talkgroups on the system. Of course, this only happens in ID Search mode and not ID Scan. It's not much of a nuisance since it happens too little to really notice, but it should be a problem worth looking into for the future.

Too many possibilities. Can you post a video of your scanner receiving what you deem to be "false talkgroups"? You're certain you programmed in the correct color code for the station you're aiming to hear? How strong is the signal? Sometimes weak decodes can cause erratic talkgroup behavior. Are the "false talkgroups" completely random or the same for every occurrence? Is any traffic heard at all on said "false talkgroups" & if so is it different than what you're expecting to hear from the target station?

I have nothing to really record now since the system is not very active except for one talkgroup that I've removed since I discovered it, logged it, and uploaded it to the database. I know I have the right CC for it and the slot numbers. I get great signal almost all of the time considering how close it is to me. The traffic I hear on the false or "ghost" talkgroups are normally the same traffic as one of the two other talkgroups on that system, and yes the talkgroups come as a completely random number, probably has some sort of mathematical property to it. It might have something to do with surrounding interference as my scanners are normally on my desk where my PC is, another scanner, or in the car.

This list is from proscan and it shows you all the ghost talkgroups, some seem to randomly appear more than once. 1 and 16777184 are real talkgroups, the rest that I get hits on seem to be just a disguised version of one of those talkgroups.

It also looks like it affects UIDs too.

Those 2 are the only known and submitted tg's. There could be more than the 2. But your log is all over the place and many are likely false.

Could be or could be weak signal and the scanner might not decode and process everything correctly. How is the signal and what antenna are you using?

It's not normally weak; sometimes it doesn't catch, but because of how close I am to the tower, it comes in at full strength. I use a wonky outdoor antenna setup consisting of BNC cable and a stock telescopic whip that comes with the 996. It's only temporary. I'm planning on having an indoor setup.
