The log is from SDRTrunk - I'm running from a Linux box. Perhaps an error in the decoding. I take it that you are saying that a misconfigured subscriber could not cause this behavior?

I should also add this has continued over several days since the program has been running, always (so far at least) with the same radio 102.

I've noticed DSD+ reporting flavors or generic DMR inconsistently on all but the strongest signals. Whatever the differences are, there seems to be a reasonably high probability of mis-detection, at least with DSD+.

If a subscriber was configured for Cap+, it wouldn't get past hunting for a rest channel on a conventional system.
