DMR
I am curious if Kenilworth will actually use DMR or analog. Sometimes licenses say "DMR", but end up being analog after all. I am curious if anyone gets any confirmation on this and can submit to DB.
A lot of agencies and business's will go through a "third" party company to license their agency etc. These companies "manage" and "assist"
for a fee all the FCC licensing "red tape" including frequency coordination with the appropriate coordinators APCO for PW pool frequencies and various for IG pool.
I have noticed especially in the IG Pool i.e. Business. Some of these third party companies
Automatically add the DMR emission to the licensee application. Was this the issue for Kenilworth? In most cases especially in PW pool, if DMR is indicated as an emission the agency will switch. Examples: Kennilon, Rockaway and Lavalett just to name a few.
Also about half of the agencies that do switch to DMR especially PDs use DMR encryption.
As to business's, just because DMR emission is listed on the license it's a matter of if and not when they do switch over to DMR. This can also apply to PW licenses too.
So if the DMR emission appears in an agency's licensee, you just have to be diligent and monitor them for the change. SDRs and software can help monitor, track and log this activity.
Take note, a lot of NJ municipal and regional BOEs are now being licensed with DMR.
