This is a question only you can answer. Is there DMR or NXDN around the areas you live and travel that is of interest to you? If so, they may be worth the cost.

I have DMR on one scanner (SDS100) that I can take with me when traveling. I don’t have NXDN as I have not found anything of interest to me.

I suppose you’re right, thank you!

It depends on where you reside. Here in Texas, I've enjoyed using DMR, NXDN, & ProVoice.

If you would specify a county or location, I might be able to better answer your question.

I've got it figured out. Only a local rail road uses it. Which I am interested in, but not on my SDS 200. I'll wait until I have a more mobile setup.

Been thinking same as you, curious of Lakes States RR but is it worth my while.

I purchased an SDS 100 and got both upgrades. The true test won't be until summer when I can listen to the Ore Boats and the LS&I Railroad over at the docks. Or that is my hope. Obviously no upgrades should be needed to listen to the boats.

If it is Railroads that interest you look into the BCD160DN Handheld and the BCD260DN Mobile $250 and $350 they are designed for Rail and Air use Analog Free DMR and Free NXDN included.

Yeah, I could have done that but it is nice to be able to monitor ALL the things while on the move. This is a good tip for others, though!

There's a lot of DMR near me in SE Michigan. Nothing of great interest. I'd say the most interesting is mall security, various security agencies, and a summer concert venue.
Lots of towing companies use DMR. I'll listen in on them during snow storms.

As far as NXDN goes, there is far less of that in my area. Some hospital security users and Deltacom has some traffic if you like monitoring garbage haulers and landscaping services. It is interesting to track their vehicles (LRRP), however a scanner won't do that.
