I just heard on the radio that Dodge CO just finished putting up 3 new towers. According to the Emergency Managment guy on the radio, he said that it was a digitial upgrade now allowing voice scrambling.

Is this going to be a P25 digital all the time radio system or is it just the DVP voice scamble thing.

Just curious.

I heard the "radio shop", probably moto, doing radio test on channel one(155.745) about a week ago, but all transmissions that I heard were in analog. As of last night everything was analog in the clear.

My aunt told me a couple of years ago that the county told the ems department that she works for they had to buy digital radios.

If dodge does you any type of encryption or voice scrambling it would be only when necessary. I don't see EMS units, who use CH1, have encryption radios.

Here is the funny part. The deputies use HT1000 potable radios. The last time I look up anything on those radios they cannot do P25 or any type of encryption or voice scrambling.

Just notice with their call sign KSB421 that 155.325 is now under that call sign as a repeater with what looks like an input of 158.9775. This was or still is EMS Coordination unknown what use it is now.

This call sign is for LE, except ch1 that call sign is KUB996. KSB421 is for point, WISPERN, sheriff dispatch, 155.325, and 155.850(listed as possible TAC).

Where is this third tower? The FCC only shows two, St Helena RD and at the Highway Shop in Juneau.

I have only heard the 155.850 freq. once and that was Horicon police talking car to car called it CH16. That was about 8 years ago.

Money for the final upgrade of infrastructure was just recently approved. It will still be a while before its all up and optimized, mobiels are installed and HTs given out. It will be P25 with encryption but not sure if they will run it all the time. My guess is they will operate like Marquette co shrf and Wi Dells pd does, analog most of the time, digital with encryption for sensitive information.

The HT1000s will become a thing of the past...I’m looking at boxes and boxes of new motos!

There are new towers in Fox Lake and in Knowles

I also know nothing about the state and county sharing tower space ;)

I didn't think they were going through with the digital stuff. The first I heard of them possibly going digital was three plus years ago. Hopefully they use digital full time so I can finally hear some P25 again, much better than analog.

What mobiles and HTs?

Only Dodge "F3" will be digital. No plans for "F1" to go digital. The only changes for F1 anytime soon will be narrowbanding when that happens.

F3 going P25 is in progress now....er should say that equipment changeout is occuring as it comes. Still a bit of time before it's ready.

Oops, thanks IVK, forgot to mention I was talking about F3 not F1.

The mobiles will be XTL series and the portables XTS series.

F3 will be digital 100% or just when they use encryption?

Then I guess they are getting rid of text paging the deputies sensitive info.
