I'm having some issues connecting to the computer from my 5000.
Can I use a RS-232 cable with drivers or a 232 to USB (prolific)?
I've tried both and hit the "control" button and it's not connecting.

Suggestions? Thanks!

There is no drivers that I know of for RS-232 cable should be simple plug and play.
Yes.....found that out.....but still no connectivity. The card has 2 ports so it has 2 Comport number and I've tried both. Unfortunately, no manual....

Any suggestions? I did try to USB>RS232 to no avail so I switched back to RS-232

Look in your pc device manager. The com port should be numbered. Then pick 1 of the 2 and put the info into the FTDXRC software. If com ports are on and working 1 of them should connect to radio. Make sure you use same speed in the radio as in the FTDXRC.

Correct....same as mine except for the Com port number but it does not work.....does something need to be set in on the FTDX5000?

Appreciate the help!

Yes you will need to know the baud rate set in the radio (4800) was Yaesu default so make sure baud rate is set the same. You also need to check if RTS an/or DTS is enabled or disabled in the radio menu.

Yes I've done that and I've tried all 3 com ports (2 on PCI card and the one RS232>USB) and nothing. Am I supposed to click the connect at the bottom left? It never lights up and I've tried clicking on it while trying each Com port.

I've tried using it set to "Local" nevertheless I never get a light on the CAT (top left under power switch) and I never get any lights on the bottom left for Client..... IF my RS-232 cable is good (I'll check the pin-out continuity for grins) and my Com port is correct along with Baud then it should connect correct?
