I have a Uniden BC125at and was looking into getting an antenna for my car. I already found a good mount, but what about an antenna? I need frequency's from 155-460mhz..at minimum. I found this antenna, but its only 152-162mhz. I then found this antenna which is perfect, but have a few questions. The antenna says it has a maximum power of 200watts while the other antenna isn't powered. Note that I will NOT be transmitting anything, just receiving. Will this antenna work for my scanner even though it requires power..or is the maximum power just for transmitting. Also is the powered antenna better than the other non powered one? Thanks!

Antennas aren't "powered". The power specification speaks to the antenna's power-handling capability when it's attached to a transmitter. When picking an antenna for receiving only, the frequency specs are not as critical and you can usually get good results with a simple VHF quarter-wave whip. If, on the other hand, you're looking for the best mobile scanner antenna, do a search for a tri-band (155/450/800) mobile antenna. An NMO mount will allow you the most flexibility for swapping out NMO antennas as you progress in the hobby.

I already have an Laird NMO mount. Are there any recommendations on antennas? I want the best possible receiving antenna for under $65 for my scanner. I would search for an antenna myself, but I don’t want to buy a garbage antenna on accident.

There are two multiband antennas that I can personally recommend. I'm using both at work:

The Larsen doesn't meet your budget, but if you shop around, you can probably find it cheaper.
