• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I feel your pain brother...

Host 07.71.06
DSPN 08.03.05
And after not using it for a long *** time im now getting Fail 01/82 and Fail 002

My last saved codeplug was from 2012. Ill shoot that back into it.
I am pretty good about reading units and saving original codeplugs as well so im going to go through my archives and see if i have my original. If so ill shoot that to it then build it from that.

After talking to RR member BK-117, I am convinced firmware is to blame. I have a perfectly working XTS3K "s" split model 2 that has newer firmware than both my model 3 radios and it has been and keeps on working flawlessly. Not one single issue on anything. The radios are in his hands as of today. Let's see what happens.

Keep us informed, I'm interested to know. I figured it was a firmware issue from the sound of it but this will confirm it.

UPDATE-2

Just heard back from BK-117. Here are the issues as were described to me:

VHF radio: Old firmware, firmware and codeplug did not match, encryption board installed causing sampling ticking type issues during scan..

UHF radio: Old firmware, radio out of alignment..

Both radios reflashed with the latest firmware that Moto put out for that series radio. Both radios tuned and aligned to factory specs. Both radios now working properly. Both radios saved form trip to firing range!

Here is what I have discovered so far. Brad aka BK-117 is a professional in every sense of the word. He is an excellent communicator. He kept in touch with me constantly. I have never had any dealings with him prior to this so this opinion is unbiased in every way. If anyone has any issues close to what I experienced, I HIGHLY recommend sending him a PM. The only thing left is now is to get my radios back and reprogram them, with pleasure this time.

Very good to know that there is a dedicated person working on these radios. Altho I do not have any XTS3000 radios, I will put this info in my 'file'.

Glad to see others here helping each other.

Yeah, I thought I was out of options. He still has all the equipment and software to do the job at his radio shop. That is priceless in my book. It helps that he is also a RR member.

Update on Radios.

I am happy to announce that both of my XTS3000 VHF/UHF radios are back in my possession, working 100% flawless with NOT ONE single issue. My thanks once again to RR member BK-117 for all his fine work on these two portables that were destined to a certain death. Cannot say enough about what his help has meant to me. Do NOT hesitate to reach out to him if you are experiencing any problems.
