I've probably asked, but what's Dooly county under these days? WQCQ579 specifies FB2 but with 153.9875 I don't know if its conventional or what.. Anybody know?

153.9875 is an example of a CONVENTIONAL frequency. Most anything is conventional unless the frequency is part of a TRUNKED system, in which case it operates with other frequencies to form a system. All frequencies in Dooly County are conventional.

Understood. I'm in northeast Houston but it can't be that far to not be able to pick up.

S.O. still (after 20+ years of listening) on 155.580 repeater.
There is an input receiver in Vienna & Pinehurst, to help increase coverage.

Surprised (with all of their drug busts) they haven't gone 800/digital, with their neighbors north (Houston) and south (Crisp - analog 800) trunked.

IMHO, VHF P25 would be their best choice. Save the $$$ for a patch to the other counties...
