...at the bottom of the 60m band with my new balun (see "Playing with baluns/ununs" above) and a much reduced noise level heard a couple of weak ones last evening about 2100local/0800UTC. Radio Solomons on 5020kHz were having some strange programming - Reggae music for three or four tracks then a bible reading! Only a 10kW station and reasonably strong in the early evening. Then appearing out of the murk was Radio 4KZ, Inisfall, Queensland 5055kHz in Oz playing mainly oldies with voiceovers which were hard to understand - he's even less powerful, 1.5kW according to Dan's list.
In general it may be my balun but there seems to be an improvement in HF conditions so perhaps I'll have be staying up again - summer is coming on and darkness is going to get progressively later!
