Hello,

Have an HP1 and using Butel's ARC software for programming it.

a. Thought I would play around for the first time with the CTCSS and Tone options.
Have never used them before.

Am interested in monitoring the Sudbury, Mass. PD, (852.9125) which I have been monitoring in the "normal" way without any of these codes or tones.

In the RR database, under Tone for the Sudbury PD, it shows "023 DPL"

Can someone please interpret what this is, and means, please ? What is DPL ?
Is it similar to the CTCSS mode, or...?

In the Butel software, under SQ Mode, or SQ Code, there is nothing in the pull-down
menu that gives this as a choice. Why ?

If someone could explain this for me, would be appreciative.

General questions on:

b. If you do enter a CTCSS Code, where applicable, via the Butel software, does the radio automatically use it, or must some option be set telling it to first ?

c. What screen does one go to to on the Radio to see what, or if, a Code is being used for a particular Channel ?

Regards,
Bob

Digital private line...its a sub audio tone that signifies a frequency for specific department so you don't hear a hundred diffrent departments using the same frequency.

In the drop down, you will 1st see a bunch of tones with a decimal. like 210.7, All of those with decimals are PL's The next group has no decimals. Those are DPL's like 074

They can also be used to eliminate interference. Actually in the scanner world if you do not need too separate users or eliminate interference you are better off not even using them.
