Site 8

The OKC simulcast site of the DPS System (site 8) has added another control channel from the Edmond system. It was using 857.9375MHz (Channel 4) as a control channel last night.

Listening to the radio techs, they apparently had problems with that channel and had to switch back to 858.9375MHz (Channel 3) as a control. They are working on the system this morning.

UniTrunker also shows Edmond channels 859.9375MHz and 860.9375MHz on the DPS site 8, but they are currently disabled.

This is all in preparation for Edmond to be switched over onto the state system. I have been told this will happen this week, possibly as soon as Wednesday. Of course that's assuming no problems with the system.

I'm not sure of the technical reasons, but apparently the Edmond radios could not access the system untill the control channels were changed.

Maybe they have some older radios, such as GTX's or something that can't go in the Public Safety part of the 800 band (866-868.9875)...

I seem to remember the PD having mostly MTS2000's and MCS2000 mobiles. Perhaps the city services guys have the "in-compatible" radios.

Edmond PD Switch?

Edmond PD Units are now on the DPS System.

9AM Tuesday, Dec 4.

Don't know if it's permanent or just testing.
