Drake R8 computer control issues

Hello,

I just got an Drake R8 off Ebay, nice radio and works great!

I am trying to interface the radio with my PC. I have an FLDI usb/serial adapter on com4. Everything there seems to be fine, however I cannot control the radio with anything. I have tried Smart R8, RXPlus, Ergo and nothing is working.

Anyone have any idea what the issue may be?

I don't have a R8, but I'm willing to bet there's some sort of setup procedure to setting the serial port on the radio...best regards..Mike

I have setup all the settings on the computer with the software. It should work.

When I launch a program to control the radio, the radio acts as it should by disabling all the from buttons and whatnot. Everything however sit and just waits until it errors. I can actually hear the data being sent through the serial cable through the radio, but nothing.

I have read the manual and it don't seem like there is any certain state the radio is supposed to be in to be controlled. Some of the software even actually claims to have the ability to turn the radio on and off.

I am out of ideas lol.

I would start with getting in touch with other Drake R8 users here. Both RxPlus and Ergo have their own Yahoo groups, but they're much less busy. I'd start with the R8 group first...
