>do you think it will work well for this intended purpose though?
I've tried lots of USB sound cards over the years with many variants of DSD and DSD+ (Ubuntu, XP, Win7, Win8.1 etc) on lots of platforms. For me the USB Startech sound cards are by far the best, in part I think because they can do 96khz sampling rate. The Griffin iMic works quite well too, but is only 48khz.

Oh crap, I've got a problem When opening dsd+ using command prompt with dsdplus -fp for provoice, I get this error message https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?u...=safe&realattid=1497225198634532864-local0&zw window. I have un/reinstalled program, did a system restore with no luck. What did I do!!! And how do I fix it? Help! This also unfortunately happens when opening directly from the DSD Plus box from the file I put it in on the desktop.

We cant go into your gmail account and look at your mail or jpeg. You will have to upload it somewhere before anyone can look at it.
"dsdplus -fp" is a valid command.

Any suggestions on how to do this? I must have missed that in computer 101. Thanks

What I am posting save as a .bat file, into your dsdplus folder, and then run it.

DSDPlus -O NUL -v4 -i1 -o1 -fp

Thanks for that. Would some one help me with how to save to a .bat file in my dsdplus folder? I entered in the command you gave me while in my dsd+ folder, which is on the desktop and got back the "not recognized" message. So I must have missed a step here, and am guessing saving the above might be it. Once again I must put in my warning that I'm no computer whiz. TIA, TT.

huge amount of info about making batch files (.bat) online but here is one for you.

Open Notepad or Wordpad
paste the line that was given to you in post #30
save it by typing a name and adding .bat to the end of the name.

If you want desktop shortcuts, find the file in Windows Explorer, right click it, choose "Send To", choose "Desktop (create shortcut)"

If you want to make changes to the file later to change DSDPlus start parameters, right click the batch file or shortcut, chose Edit, then save.

You can create different batch files for each type of system you wish to monitor by editing the batch file and change the parameters following the directions in the help file that comes with the program. Then choose "Save As", pick a different file name, add .bat to the name, and save.

Thanks, I'll do it when I get back home. Just wondering though, what does the new command line kindly provided by RonnieUSA actually fix? In other words what WENT WRONG and how can I prevent making a similar blunder in the future? T.I.A, TT.

You need to take care of your soundcard input first. Until you have the signal getting to the program, it is not productive to keep trying with various batch files.

What the batch file does is dependent on what you want the program to do and how you want it to look on your screen.
You can listen live or from files <file
You can choose to see lots of info or a little info -v
You can pick which device (sound card) you are getting the signal from -i
You can pick where you want the signal to go -o
You can log, create recordings, choose all types of signals or just target one, you can fine tune for one protocol or use an average, etc, etc

This is why learning the parameters is important whether it for command line or writing a batch file

DSDPlus -O NUL -v4 -i1 -o1 -fp
DSDPlus is the program
-O NUL is shutting off the creation of audio files
-v4 is setting the Frame information to the maximum (scrolling display in big black square)
-i1 sets input to device 1
-o1 sets output device to output 1
-fp sets the program to decode ProVoice only

Thanks, that now makes sense. I have to wait to get home from this trip to give it a whirl. I guess I must have the program a serious monkey wrench making that entry way back when the error box appeared.
