Ok. So do I really need this VB Cable or I am good with how I am doing it.

And yah that is what it is supposed to look like and do but what I showed you in those images I posted even with my scanner plugged into the Microphone Jack, sitting on a freq that I have in my TRBO Radio and keying up, nothing happens, all those screens stay the same nothing changes or shows up.

So let me know if it's not working because I need to install this VB Cable or if it's because I can only use this program on Repeater Channels only.

Your good the only time you would need vb cable is if you were using a SDR dongle then you would have to have it to pipe the audio from SDR sharp to dsd

Correct. You do not need VB Cable when using a tapped radio. Have you checked the recording settings in windows? Make sure the level isn't all the way down etc etc

Ok won't worry about that VB Cable.

Yah as far as I know it is ok, because I tried TRUNK88 on that computer and it came up fine and started decoding like it should with no issues, so to me that means everything should be good.

So would it be because I am trying it on a SIM Channel and not a Repeater Channel like someone else on here said. If that is not the reason then I dunno. Because I find it weird that TRUNK88 works when I tried it but this DSD PLUS Program is not working like it should for me.

So let me know if anyone else any other suggestions as to why it's not working for me and showing what it should when it does work.

If you mean using TRUNK88. I have been doing that for a long time now. I just tried it on the computer I will be using this DSD Program on just to see if TRUNK88 works on there and if it didn't then that would explain why this DSD Program wasn't working but, TRUNK88 works on that computer, so I still dunno why this DSD Program is not working.

If that is not what you mean. Then tell me what you mean by what you said slicerwizard.

So is it still not working for me because I am using a SIM Channel to test it and I am using a portable right close to it and I need to only get this info from people using a repeater channel or still can get it from a SIM Channel but can't be from a radio keying up close to my scanner that is doing the decoding.

Let me know.

Thanks.

He means park your scanner on a Fleetnet voice channel and see if DSD+ decodes P25 ok.

Oh ok. Didn't know what he meant.

So if I sit it on one of our Voice Channels when Dispatch or a Unit talks something should show up like I have seen in pics when the program does what it is supposed to do. Or will putting it on our Control Channel work also or just a Voice Channel.

Is that what you mean.

Let me know

Thanks

Voice channel only.... and by all means, feel free to play around and try things without waiting for people to confirm stuff! That's the best way to learn and maybe you'll find the answer yourself before someone gets back to you.

For Trunk88... You are using the complete same setup? Same scanner, same input on the pc, etc etc?

Ok will try that with one of our voice channels and see what happens and will let you know.

and yah lol that I do try to play around and try a few things and when that doesn't work, that is when I come to here or where ever and ask people that know what the problem might be or what I might be doing wrong and to get it working the way it should.

yup I have a tapped scanner that I only use for TRUNK88 when I am out of town, when I go to other cities to and monitor Fleetnet there.

Thanks again.

Will give this Fleetnet Voice Channel thing a try.

Just an update I tried this program with my tapped scanner sitting on a Voice Channel for Fleetnet and still no go nothing happened. I tried playing with the recording volume for the mic, increasing it and decreasing it and still nothing. Nothing moved or showed up on that program.

So I really don't know why it's not working if you said it should of when I had it sitting on a Fleetnet Voice Channel.

So unless anyone else on here has any other ideas. Let me know.

Otherwise will just wait to try it with a TRBO Channel when I am out of town and if that still doesn't work, then I really don't know and then will just not bother with it. But will see.

Thanks again.

In your sound / recording tab, do you see any indication there is audio present under that input device?

The computer I am using is XP and in the image you showed me doesn't show the signal meter in it. So I cannot tell if anything is showing.

The only way I can tell that the mic/recording jack is working, is when I ran this program for our Trunking System here like a couple other people mentioned in here. When I did, that Trunking Program worked like it should with no issues. It was decoding like it should. So to me that tells me the mic/recording jack is working.

So I guess my only other option is to wait until I go out of town sometime to one of the places that I know uses one or a couple TRBO Channel(s) and try it there and if still no go there with the TRBO Channel(s), then I dunno what is wrong and guess then will not bother with this program anymore. If it doesn't work at those places.

So will go from there.

If anyone else still has any other suggestions, let me know.

Thanks again.

Did you actually wait for an OPP or MNR call?

Whatever settings work well for TRUNK88 should be good enough for DSD+. DSD+ doesn't seem to be very fussy.

You should post a picture of the audio window that's taken during an active voice call.

Yes I did, and when they were talking on the Voice Channel Freq, the OPP, I never saw anything change in those screens like what it should show when it works.

Yah should be and still for some reason not working for me lol.

Ok I can do that after, got it all shut down and. I can take a before pic and after pic when they are talking and go from there and see if that shows anything and can help out with maybe telling what the problem might be.

So will post again when I do that.

Thanks.

If you are running a tapped scanner to the Line input of your computer sound card, then you don't need VB Cable. That is for routing audio between programs/drivers. Usually, though, the tapped scanner signal goes through a data slicer into a serial port. A direct feed to the sound card should probably have some protection against DC coupling and overloading. At a minimum, a capacitor and/or a resistor. Best would be an actual buffer chip.

Yeah, we covered that already.

Nobody uses data slicers these days. Since the OP is using the Win32 version of TRUNK88, he's not using a data slicer.
